Congress's H.D. Thammaiah has won the Chikmagalur constituency seat, defeating BJP heavyweight CT Ravi, who had won the seat four times earlier. Thammaiah won by over 6,000 votes with over 50% votes, denying Ravi a fifth term from the seat. Thammaiah was considered the right-hand man of Ravi, but he defeated him in a hotly contested battle.
