Germany is set to deploy two warships, a frigate and a supply ship, to the Indo-Pacific region in 2024 as the country aims to support the rules-based international order and protect maritime passages. The move comes amid rising tensions between China and Taiwan, and territorial disputes in the South China Sea. The deployments are not aimed at any nation, said Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, adding that the warships would protect the international order that all countries have signed up to.
