I’m a gardening guru and my hack means you don’t have to worry about forgetting to water plants ever again
A GARDENING expert has shared a clever trick to keep your plants watered even when you’re not at home to do it yourself.
It’s great if you’re going on holiday and still want your garden to thrive, or even if you’re too busy to do it every day.
The hack was shared by Jose, who posts as @josegarden.official on social media and it’s a total game changer.
“Watering your plants every day can be tricky with our busy lives,” he said.
All you need is a terracotta pot, which you can grab from any garden centre or even some supermarkets during the summer.
Plug the hole at the bottom on the pot with some blu tack or something similar and bury it level in the soil next to your plants.
Once the pot is submerged in your flowerbed, fill it up with water.
Jose explained: “By using this ancient technique the water then seeps out of the porous terracotta going straight to the plant’s roots, giving them a constant supply of water and very little work for you.”
The “autopilot” watering method is perfect if you can’t commit to watering daily but still want a luscious garden.
You can even ass a lid to the pot to make the water last longer in warm weather, the gardening pro suggested.
“Obviously the larger your terracotta pot the larger space it will water, over a longer period of time, but even with a small pot in a raised bed this method is effective,” he said.
“The other bonus is the soil will only take on as much water as it needs, almost self regulating with it needs a drink, you don’t have to worry about over watering or the water not penetrating down to the plant’s roots,” he added.
Other gardening fans loved the helpful tip and couldn’t wait to try it out for themselves.
