Mark Wright reveals heartbreak at dad’s ‘end of life’ confession
MARK Wright has revealed his heartbreak at his dad’s ‘end of life’ confession.
The former TOWIE star and TV presenter, 36, has filmed a brand new programme.
He’s travelling the UK with his brother Joshua, 33, and father, Mark Wright Sr, 65.
The show has been dubbed A Wright Old Adventure and will hit screens in June.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun’s TV Mag, Mark has revealed why he decided to do the programme.
He recalled how his father was extremely ill with Coronavirus – while his brother was going through a tough time.
After his dad made a full recovery, Mark decided it was time to “reconnect” as a family.
He said: “I first had the conversation about making this during lockdown – just after my dad was really really sick with Covid and lost his brother to covid and my brother was in the middle of changing clubs or potentially retiring and going through a tough time with that.”
Speaking more candidly about his dad, Mark went on to say: “When he was sick himself and when he lost his brother he was down and lacked confidence, he struggles to admit it now.
“He thought about the end of life at that point. He slowed down and lost that buzz he normally has.”
Mark, who is married to actress Michelle Keegan, admitted he didn’t realise how open they would all be in the show.
“I didn’t realise we were going to air the things we did – my dad bottles things up and my brother reveals things about how he’s been struggling and that was a first for him, it was a very moving moment for all of us.
“Alpha males, which I think we probably are, to wear our hearts on our sleeves.
“It was an amazing thing to do. We’ve always been close but it’s reminded us we have to make time for each other.
“Me particularly, I’m always chasing my dreams and have probably been a bit too driven. I need to make time for my family.”
