CT woman charged with DUI, driving wrong way on I-91
A woman from North Branford was charged with allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 91 in North Haven while driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Daria Rae McCabe, 22, of 1864 Middletown Ave. in North Branford, was found sitting in her stopped car and facing oncoming traffic on I-91 northbound just before Exit 13 Saturday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.
State troopers responded about 2:33 a.m. to reports of a wrong way driver and found McCabe sitting in her red Honda Civic in the left lane. Troopers allegedly saw that her eyes were bloodshot and glossy and her breath smelled like alcohol so they conducted a sobriety test, which she allegedly failed, police said.
McCabe was taken into custody and charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving the wrong way on a divided highway, police said.
She is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on June 16, police said.
