Former Spurs player wants Levy to give the job to young La Liga manager
Rayo Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola has been put forward as a potential candidate to take over at Tottenham Hotspur by former Lilywhites striker Terry Gibson.
It has now been more than two months since Antonio Conte left his post as Tottenham manager, and the North London side still do not have a new permanent manager.
After Cristian Stellini’s short-lived, ill-fated stint as interim manager, Ryan Mason took over as Acting Head Coach until the end of the season.
A new full-time coach is expected to be announced this summer, but Spurs appear to be no closer to finding a suitable candidate.
Many names have been linked with the role but most have ruled themselves out of the running for the vacancy.
With an ever-changing shortlist, it is anyone’s guess who Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager will be. But Gibson has an idea of who it could be.
On El Tel and Jon’s La Liga Weekly podcast, Gibson suggested the departing Vallecano manager Iraola could swap Spain for N17 as he looks for a new project.
He said: “There’s still a question mark over where he is going to go. It’s a difficult one. I think he is capable of managing a team in the Premier League. I’m a Spurs fan.
“If Andoni Iraola got the job at Spurs, I would be quite happy, to be honest, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

We’ve not heard Iraola linked with the role before and he doesn’t appear to be on Tottenham’s radar, so as Gibson said, it probably won’t happen.
I don’t know a lot about Iraola to be honest, but he likes his teams to play with energy, to take risks, and to be direct. That all sounds like the kind of football we want to see at Spurs, so he could be worth a look.
