A bettor brutally lost $15K because they didn’t cash out before Panthers’ Game 1 Stanley Cup Final loss
Despite losing Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final 5-2 to a rock-solid Adin Hill and the Las Vegas Golden Knights, it seems pretty clear that the Florida Panthers and head coach Paul Maurice aren’t panicking. After all, it’s the first to four wins for the Cup. And the series is only officially over then.
But Saturday’s outcome remained devastating for at least one party: A bettor who had the underdog Panthers winning the opening game in Las Vegas and taking a 1-0 series lead.
If Florida had won or at least covered a +1.5 goals spread, it would’ve been the final segment of a seven-leg parlay with Fanduel Sportsbook that also featured various successful MLB bets, and the bettor could’ve pocketed over $29,000. But, if the bettor had simply cashed out before the championship-level hockey game, they still would’ve won over $15,000.
I know they probably wanted to almost double their money, but I probably would’ve taken the $15,000 if I had six legs of a parlay that were already correct. That’s a lot of money.
Hedge, friend, hedge, and take the payout!
ONE. LEG. AWAY. FROM. $29K.
Cash out or let it ride?

I won’t rub more salt in the wound because I feel bad. At the very least, this bettor hopefully learned a valuable lesson about taking a massive payout when it’s already in the bag. Hockey is probably the last sport I would ever hope for more, to boot.
