Pope Francis, 86, to undergo surgery on his intestine and remain in hospital
Pope Francis was taken to hospital for surgery on his intestine earlier today in fresh health scare.
The Vatican confirmed the 86-year-old will be put under general anesthesia and will remain under the care of doctors at Gemelli hospital in Rome for several days.
This comes two years after he had 13 inches of his colon removed because of an inflammation and narrowing of the large intestine.
Just before Easter, the pontiff also spent five days in hospital with a lung infection after complaining of breathing difficulties.
