BBC axes TWO more shows with celebrity hosts in latest programming shake-up
THE BBC has axed two more shows with celebrity hosts in its latest programming shake-up.
The broadcaster has culled Eat Well for Less and Shop Well for Less from its schedules.
Eat Well for Less was presented by Jordan Banjo and Chris Bavin and ran for eight series.
It saw the hosts help families across the UK save money while not comprising on food and healthy eating.
Shop Well for Less had five series and was presented by Joanna Page and Melanie Sykes.
It followed a similar concept except focusing on people’s shopping habits, without changing their lifestyle.
TVZone reports Beeb bosses made the decision to axe both shows to pave the way for new commissions.
When contacted for comment, a spokesperson said: “Sometimes we have to make difficult decisions in order to make way for new shows and we currently have no plans to bring back Eat Well For Less or Shop Well For Less.
“We would like to thank the team at RDF West who produced both series, and presenters Chris Bavin and Jordan Banjo, and Joanna Page and Melanie Sykes, for all their hard work and enthusiasm bringing these shows to our screens.”
The news comes as reality show The Drop has been cancelled after just one series, according to reports.
The BBC Three hit, hosted by Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo, saw up and coming street wear designers battle it out.
It aired last spring and featured R&B superstar Miguel on the hunt for the next big thing, with a life-changing prize at the end.
The winning designer had their collection stocked in Flannels.
