No sign fire at Russian cultural centre was arson – police
No scientific data or testimonies have emerged to show a large fire at the Russian cultural centre in Nicosia was arson, the police said on Wednesday.
The fire in late April caused severe damage to the inside and outside of the building, which was undergoing renovation.
According to police on Wednesday, the file was turned over to the attorney-general’s office at the start of June.
Commenting to CNA about the incident, the police said that there was no scientific evidence or witness testimony, showing the fire was caused by arson.
The police said that the fire may have started randomly.

Back in April eyewitnesses reported a loud bang ahead of the blaze that engulfed the building, while a Russian official described the incident as a terror attack.
According to Russian News Agency Tass, Yevgeny Primakov, head of Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian government’s cultural promotion agency, said foul play was clearly responsible.
