Google Cloud and Mayo Clinic Developing Generative AI for Healthcare
Google Cloud and Mayo Clinic are collaborating to use generative artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare.
The collaboration aims to enable clinicians and researchers to find information in a way that is fast, seamless and conversational, the companies said in a Wednesday (June 7) press release.
Google Cloud also announced in the release that the tool that will be used in this project, its Enterprise Search in Generative AI App Builder, now supports HIPAA compliance.
“Generative AI has the potential to transform healthcare by enhancing human interactions and automating operations like never before,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said in the release. “Mayo Clinic is a world leader in leveraging AI for good, and they are a critical partner as we identify responsible ways to bring this transformative technology to healthcare.”
Mayo Clinic has already worked with Google Cloud to deploy analytics, AI and machine learning (ML) solutions in healthcare, according to the press release.
The clinical practice, education and research organization now aims to use the tech firm’s generative AI to review data in more sophisticated ways, condense and digest information, and create new images, the release said.
“Google Cloud’s tools have the potential to unlock sources of information that typically aren’t searchable in a conventional manner, or are difficult to access or interpret, from a patient’s complex medical history to their imaging, genomics and labs,” Mayo Clinic Chief Information Officer Cris Ross said in the release. “Accessing insights more quickly and easily could drive more cures, create more connections with patients and transform healthcare.”
