I’m a gardening expert – my boozy trick is great for getting rid of roly-poly bugs in flower beds
A GARDENING influencer has shared her unique hack for getting rid of bugs from her flower bed.
The content creator demonstrated her gardening trick to her followers.
In her video, TikTok user Eryn (@gardeningaddiction) explained how to prevent roly-poly bugs from eating your plants.
“So first I started laying down bait on the infested bed, mainly brassica leaves but then I noticed that they like beer,” the TikToker told viewers.
She showed her followers the bugs crawling over a discarded beer cozy.
Eryn continued: “So I started using that, just pouring it on random things. They are really attracted to it.”
The organic gardener used old toilet paper rolls and beer to bait the bugs.
Showing her audience the bug-covered cardboard, the influencer demonstrated the next step.
“Once they’re covered in the bait then I slam it off into the bucket,” Eryn said.
The content creator highlighted that she wanted to avoid harming any ladybugs or other beneficial insects.
The TikToker also showed her followers another method she uses, a beer-soaked napkin.
“If I do the napkins I can make sure I’m only getting the roly-polies,” she explained.
Eryn emptied her DIY traps into a large bucket in her backyard.
“Then you can decide whether you want to catch and release or kill them with soapy water,” she told viewers.
TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the hack.
“They f’ed my garden last year. Like I never knew they could be a problem until my whole garden died. Removing the old mulch helped,” wrote one viewer.
