14 Injured as Passenger Van Overturned in Afghanistan’s Bamyan
At least 14 people were injured on Wednesday after a passenger van overturned in the Central Bamyan province of Afghanistan.
The accident occurred at about 11:00 am local time when the driver lost control of the vehicle in the Panjab district of the province, which resulted in the injury of 14 passengers, including women and children, a provincial statement said.
The statement further stated that all injured individuals, some in critical condition, had been transported to the provincial hospital.
Three people were killed in a separate accident in the eastern Laghman province of Afghanistan, and 20 others were injured.
Two people were killed in another similar incident on Saturday in Wardak province, and eight others were injured.
According to provincial police spokesperson Mohammad Yusuf Asrar, two persons were killed, and eight others were injured due to the overturn of a mini-bus in the Behsod district of Wardak on Friday.
According to Asrar, the mini-bus was overturned due to careless driving, killing multiple people. All injured people, including women and children, were sent to the closest hospital for medical care.
Reckless driving, inadequately constructed roads, a lack of the rule of law, and poorly maintained vehicles have all increased traffic accidents throughout the country.
