India, as part of its G20 presidency, will host a meeting of development ministers from 11 to 13 June in Varanasi. The meeting, chaired by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, aims to agree on actions for achieving the SDGs and enhancing the synergies between development, environment and climate agendas. Discussions will focus on challenges arising from global economic slow-down, debt distress, climate change and biodiversity loss, growing poverty and inequality, food and energy insecurity, cost-of-living issues, global supply-chain disruptions, and geopolitical conflicts and tensions. The outcomes of the meeting will also contribute to the United Nations SDG Summit in September 2021.
