Report provides Maddison update for Spurs – Levy wants to back Postecoglou
The Northern Echo have reported that Ange Postecoglou sees James Maddison as a key potential addition to the Tottenham squad this summer.
The Australian coach joined Spurs earlier this month after winning a treble with Celtic, and has seemingly already begun to draft his list of transfer requests for the summer.
Spurs keen to support Postecoglou in Maddison race
The report claims that the Tottenham hierarchy are keen to support Postecoglou in the transfer window, with Maddison highlighted as a top target.
It also references the rumours that Maddison was keen on a move to London in the past, although Newcastle are now pushing hard to sign the England international.
Sky Sports reported earlier today that the Magpies are leading Spurs in the race for the Leicester City playmaker.
However, Tottenham have apparently already opened ‘preliminary negotiations’ with the Leicester board over a potential Maddison deal.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Tottenham have to move very fast on this one. Not just to try and beat Newcastle, but also to give them time to move for other targets if they fall short in the Maddison race. The likes of Alex Scott will also probably be looked at as young and hungry options.
