Mum sparks debate asking when she should stop going naked in front of kids – and it’s divided people
A MUM has sparked a debate asking when you should stop being naked around your kids.
The woman took to the parenting forum Mumsnet to seek advice, and it has prompted some divisive responses.
The mum’s post said: “What age is it appropriate to stop being naked in front of your children (if any) and does gender matter?
“Ie dad and daughter or mum and son?”
Her question promoted hundreds of responses, and everyone had a different opinion.
A number of people agreed that a pre-teens age was the right time.
One person theorised: “My son is 8 and I’ve noticed him staring at me when I’ve got no clothes on so I think it might be time to cover up a bit more.
“I know it’s just curiosity but I also worry he’ll have the image ingrained into his brain when he’s older.”
And a third commented: “When they start to feel uncomfortable/embarrassed – which was 7ish for both of my DC.”
However, many people said there is no age limit on going naked.
One person wrote: “Same gender I think never.
“Opposite I think when they begin to feel uncomfortable….in our house about age 14-15yo.”
Another added: “I think there’s always going to be some level of nudity between close family because you end up having to look after each other.”
Meanwhile, one argued: “I find this post sad. I don’t want my kids to feel shame about bodies.
“I respect their privacy of course but within reason I am naked in my room and bathroom.”
