CHANNEL 4’s huge TV show culling has continued as yet another hit spin-off series has been axed.
The cash-strapped broadcaster has decommissioned a number of high profile shows recently.
SAS: Who Dares Wins and Danny Dyer’s Scared of the Dark are just two shows that have been ditched.
And the culling continues as Channel 4 have decided to rest Grand Designs’ spin-off series.
House of the Year will not be returning after seven years on screens.
The show was produced in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) who decided the overall winner.
Channel 4 ditching the format will now mean this year’s awards won’t be televised.
In a statement to the Architect’s Journal, RIBA expressed disappointment by C4’s decision.
It said: “The series has gone from strength to strength over seven seasons with strong viewing figures and audience engagement in 2022.”
When contacted by The Sun Online, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said: “We communicated the decision not to recommission House Of The Year for 2023 in January.
“We are proud of our property programming and look carefully at what we commission each year to make sure we continue to offer viewers a varied range of new and much-loved programming.”
Grand Designs’ spin-off being canned comes as Four Weddings’ reboot was axed just weeks before filming kicked off.
The broadcaster previously hit back at reports it was experiencing financial problems.
A rep said: “Channel 4 is in robust health – however like all commercial broadcasters we’re taking some precautionary measures – such as rephrasing some content and production – in response to a downturn in the ad-market.
“The vast majority of our shows have not been affected.”
