Loose Women’s Katie Piper reveals terrifying fear that her acid attackers will ‘KILL her’
KATIE Piper has revealed she fears being murdered by her acid attackers.
The Loose Women star was just 24 when she fell victim to an acid attack, with the sulphuric acid that was thrown at her leaving her face severely burned.
The man behind the horror attack – former boyfriend Daniel Lynch – was jailed for life with a minimum of 16 years and won’t be considered for release until 2025.
But his release is very much on Katie’s mind and she has vowed to make the most of every moment she has.
Speaking on the podcast How Do You Cope with Elis and John, brave Katie said: “I’m 40 this year. Am I going to die in the next ten years? I don’t actually know.
“The people that attacked me will be released. Are they going to kill me? I’m not sure. Of course I procrastinate.
“I lay on the sofa in my pyjamas with yesterday’s make-up on, scrolling through my phone looking at everyone baking banana bread, that kind of procrastination is allowed and is good but I can’t procrastinate on great ideas and travels and connections, and all those really important things because I don’t know when it’s going to be over.”
Katie, who is a mum of two, continued: “I want to do so many things. I have this beautiful gift given to me. An obvious gift of not dying that day when it happened to me but I also had these three times when it happened to me, when I came out of consciousness, another time when I came out of the coma and then another time later in life when I had the sepsis where I was told: ‘You may not live.’
“So I had this gift given to me where everyone gets to the point where they write the bucket list, and said if I only had one goal I would have done this or this, I felt that at 24 but I was given the gift of being able to come back and live differently.
“So it’s amazing to live life like that, it’s a real second chance at life. I look at my story and think I’ve got so much living to do.”
Katie was rushed to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for emergency treatment after the attack, which was carried out by Stefan Sylvestre, as the acid had severely burned her face and blinded her in her left eye.
She was put in an induced coma for 12 days and had to undergo skin graft procedures.
The star no longer recalls what she looked like, saying: “I can’t remember her, except from old photos. I think that is part of trauma, memory loss.”
