An 84-year-old Catholic priest has been sentenced to a year in a Michigan jail after a sexual assault investigation. In April, the Rev. Vincent DeLorenzo pleaded guilty to attempted criminal sexual conduct in Genesee County. In exchange, other charges were dropped. DeLorenzo was accused of assaulting a 5-year-old boy in 1987 after a funeral involving the boy's family. He publicly acknowledged that he had “inappropriate sexual contact” with a child years earlier. But DeLorenzo wasn't charged until 2019 and removed from Holy Redeemer Church in Burton in 2002. He was living in Florida at the time, a change of residence that stopped the statute of limitations in Michigan.
