Assam, India is facing severe floods as heavy rainfall continues to lash several parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department has issued a 'Red Alert' stating that several districts in Assam may receive very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall till Thursday. As per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, more than 33,400 people have been hit by floods in 12 districts, with Lakhimpur being the worst affected.
