Sarah Jessica Parker Weighs in on Kim Cattrall’s Surprise Return to ‘And Just Like That’
It’s been a rollercoaster ride for fans of Sex and the City since the news broke that Kim Cattrall would be making a surprise cameo in the SATC spinoff, And Just Like That. After years of rumored feuding between Sarah Jessica Parker and Cattrall, it seemed like a dream come true for fans with Cattrall’s upcoming cameo in season 2. Now, Parker has finally broken her silence on the matter and given her blessing to Cattrall’s return.
Let’s back up for a moment. The drama between Parker and Cattrall began back in 2017 when reports surfaced that there was tension between them on set. This was followed by an Instagram post from Cattrall in 2018 slamming Parker for “exploiting” her brother’s death. Since then, both actresses have addressed their rumored feud in various public interviews, but neither had made any definitive statements about it until now.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Mail, Parker finally spoke out about her former co-star’s return to And Just Like That. She said that she was “thrilled” at the prospect of having Cattrall back on set and described it as “fun and nostalgic,” adding that there had been “a lot of joy” on set. However, insiders noted to the publication that Cattrall’s scene reportedly takes place in a car while on the phone with Parker’s character, so the two actresses did not even have to actually be in the same space for the reunion.
Last week, fellow co-star Kristin Davis weighed in on the strained relationship between Cattrall and the rest of the SATC crew.
“You have to respect people’s wishes,” Davis told Telegraph of Cattrall’s wishes not to play Samantha Jones full-time in the spinoff. “I’m not gonna waste energy on it. I can’t change anybody.”
“I wish I could fix it, but I can’t, it’s not in my power,” she added.
Fans will be able to watch the second season of And Just Like That on June 22, 2023 on Max.
