Journalist claims Saudi clubs have contacted Tottenham about one player

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Saudi Arabian clubs have reached out to Tottenham over a potential deal for Ivan Perisic.

It now looks quite likely that Perisic’s time in North London is going to be cut short, with multiple publications over recent weeks claiming that the Croat is one of many players expected to be offloaded as a part of Ange Postecoglou’s mass clear out this summer (The Athletic).

Turkish outlet Takvim claimed last week that Fenerbahce have identified the 33-year-old as a target and had already ‘started negotiations’ over a deal for the player.

The publication claimed that the Istanbul-based club had also reached out to the wing-back’s agent to discuss a potential transfer and were ‘ready to go on attack’ to snap up him.

Saudi Arabian clubs are looking at Spurs’ Ivan Perisic

Jacobs has now confirmed on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel that Fenerbahce have indeed contacted Tottenham over a deal for Perisic.

However, the journalist added that they are not the only club to explore a deal for the former Inter Milan man, with multiple Saudi Arabian clubs also alleged to have reached out to Spurs regarding the experienced star.

Tottenham’s best chance of getting a fee for Perisic, given his age and the fact that he has just one year left on his deal, is if they sell him to a Saudi club. 

However, I suspect that Croat might want to remain in Europe and could potentially even insist on a return to the Serie A if any Italian clubs show interest.
