Cranford stabbing: Police officer swarmed by mob and attacked with a hammer while helping assault victim on high street
POLICE officers have been swarmed by a mob and attacked with a hammer while trying to help a stabbing victim.
A 31-year-old man was injured in the knife attack before an angry crowd set upon cops in Cranford, West London, this afternoon.
One officer was struck by a hammer-wielding thug, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.
Fortunately, they did not suffer a severe injury or require hospital treatment.
The stabbing victim is receiving treatment for a slash wound, which is not believed to be life threatening.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
