For this instalment the programme was broadcast from Powis Castle in Wales.

During the show, viewers watched as one guest brought two ventriloquist’s dummies to be valued.

Before things go underway expert Mark Hill declared: “These things absolutely terrify me!”

Introducing the antiques, the woman said: “These [the dummies] were my father’s, the magic tricks and everything were actually my grandad’s.

“They are all original magic circles, they’re the first tricks that were ever made I think.”

As Mark cast his eyes over the set, he said he believed the pieces to be from the early 20th century.

He said the dummies were made of celluloid and approximately built in the 60s.

“This was generations of families reusing tools from above,” he explained.

The woman revealed the dummies were called Fred and William – and stunned the crowd by saying how Fred was wearing her dad’s wig.

When it came to valuing the dolls, Mark estimated them to be worth between £70 to £100 each.

He said their magic wands could fetch up to £300.

Mark added: “I think you’ve got so much more you say, I think you’re probably looking totally at a couple of thousand pounds.

But while the women were blown away, viewers at home were left creeped out by the dolls.

One said: “I’m not f***ing sleeping tonight.”

A second wrote: “Put them in a box and burn them. Don’t care how much they are worth.”

“Seriously, between the freaky dolls and the nodding cats I’m convinced #antiquesroadshow is trying to give me nightmares,” said a third.

While a fourth commented: “I can see why this episode of #AntiquesRoadshow is after the watershed, between the ventriloquist dummies and the creepy nodding cats I won’t sleep for a week.”

Antiques Roadshow is available on BBC iPlayer.
