Waldport wildfire contained, evacuations remain in place
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The wildfire the prompted Level 3 "Go Now" evacuations in Waldport just south of Hwy 101 has been contained, but the evacuations remain in place for the moment.
Officials with the Central Oregon Coast Fire and Rescue said crews will be "working the scene for another couple hours" and Hwy 101 in that area will remain shut down.
"Please avoid the area if you can and we will let you know as soon as the highway opens and evacuations are lifted," officials said on their Facebook page.
The evacuations are still in effect along Hwy 101 at SW White Cap Drive to SW Azalea Road, Lincoln County officials said.
The evacuation area is south of Waldport, Hwy 101 - White Capr Road to SW Azalea Lane area.
Level 2 "Be Set" to evacuate is in place for the areas of South of Waldport – Hwy 101 at Wakonda Beach Road to South Crest Line Drive then North to SW White Cap Drive.
