I bought an old caravan from eBay & gave it a mega makeover on the cheap – I used Ikea & Amazon buys & it looks insane
A WOMAN has revealed that she bought an old, tired caravan online and gave it a mega makeover on the cheap.
Holly Benn explained that she nabbed the caravan from eBay and used bargain buys from Amazon, Dunelm and Ikea to give it a fresh new look.
Posting on TikTok under the username @holly_andhome, the teacher and mother explained that after suffering a devastating miscarriage, she and her family bought the run-down caravan and set to work giving it an epic new look.
In one clip, Holly explained: “Bought a caravan when I was recovering from a miscarriage.
“We had no idea what we were doing but we knew it was an adventure.
“We worked SO hard making it perfect for us.
“Come and see her now… There’s still work to be done, but the time she gives us as a family makes it all worth it.”
Holly later opened up: “Renovating this 20 year old caravan helped give me space to grieve.
“It also gave me and my family a fun and purposeful project to do together.
“Baby loss is one of the hardest things to navigate but finding a passion to help make your life around the loss feel bigger and stronger can be incredibly healing.”
In another clip, Holly shared a before and after look at her mega caravan transformation.
She said: “When you’ve been through s**t and you’re ready for your pretty girl era.”
Holly later added: “This old girl saved me during such a dark time… so she deserved a glow up.”
At the start of the clip, Holly gave her followers a look at the run-down home on wheels, which was in desperate need of some TLC.
She then shared it’s stunning new look, leaving many open-mouthed.
The tired, brown decor was given a fresh new feel and was instead turned into a stunning grey haven that cleanfluencer Mrs Hinch would certainly approve of.
She revealed: “Start with the woodwork. I took everything out and started painting and went from there.
“It looks so much worse to begin with.”
Holly explained that she used a £10 rug from Ikea to cover the caravan’s chairs, alongside other cheap buys from the high street.
In another video, Holly answered the common questions she often gets asked about her caravan’s overhaul.
When asked: “Where did you get it? How much was it?” the social media user explained “Private sale from eBay. It was £2,000 cheaper than similar in a dealership.”
Another person questioned: “Where are the tiles from?”, to which Holly confirmed that she used “stick-on tiles” from Amazon.
As well as this, when asked: “How did you make the curtains?”, the DIY whizz confirmed “I bought craft fabric from Dunelm and sewed curtain tape across the top by hand (Amazon again). Add curtain hooks…super easy!”
Not only this, but another user wondered: “Do you have a double bed?”, to which the savvy woman beamed “The front converts into a king size [bed] very easily.”
Social media users were left stunned at the caravan’s new look and many were eager to reflect this in the comments.
One person said: “Amazing.”
Another added: “So beautiful.”
A third commented: “What a wonderful job you’ve done.”
