Eleven opposition political parties have asked the Election Commission of India to explain why 2001 census data was used instead of the 2011 census data for Assam’s delimitation process when the latter was available. The parties allege that the State Government of Assam had engaged in a conspiracy in violation of Section 9(1) (a) of the Delimitation Act, 2002.
