Triangle 10, 11 and Another Record
This week saw two events in the Triangle Time Trial series, and with some warm and humid conditions a very strong set of times, including several course/personal bests.
Tuesday was out on the 10mile course at Walshford, with eight OCC members taking on the Red Wall. Fastest was Sam Ward, covering the course in 20:42. Helen Goldthorpe’s 25:45 meant she was fastest woman, and racing for the first time this season, Johnathan Allen’s 22:04 gave him maximum points.
Thursday was back to the Triangle course from Arthington, and a strong field of 15 riders (12 OCC, 3 guests) raced. Posting a scorching time of 26:37 gave Sam Ward first place, but hot on his heels (or pedals?) was guest Matt Chipping 6s back, and OCC junior Matthew Peace a further 2s behind. Fastest woman was guest Sarah Lewthwaite in 31:12, and fastest OCC woman Helen Goldthorpe in 32:42.
Matthew’s highly impressive performance, especially for a 16 yr old, not only gave him maximum points of the day, but also at a time of 26:45 the Junior course record. Chapeau, Matthew, and here’s to many more outstanding rides.
The week’s events have left three riders within 4 points at the top of the competition, with Sam leading, followed closely by John Raftery and Jon Hobbs.
