LOVE Your Garden’s Alan Titchmarsh was left ‘very concerned’ for his co-star’s plan to live in a van.
The beloved television presenter, 74, was left worried for Frances Tophill, who appears alongside him on the ITV show.
Frances, 34, had never appeared on television before joining the Love Your Garden team.
The horticulturist has revealed when she went through a difficult time she contemplated moving into a van.
Speaking to the Sunday Post, Frances opened up about her house-hunting days and the struggle to find a home.
After being outbid on properties she liked, Frances thought about buying a field and moving into a van.
Her revelation left Alan concerned for her welfare.
She said: “I called him the other day to tell him about my new home because he was very concerned about me.
“I’d been trying to buy a house for years, then it was the pandemic, and it was all very competitive.
“I said if I didn’t get it, I could just buy myself a little field and live in my van.”
Thankfully Frances now has a lovely home in Devon, which left Alan visibly revealed and delighted for her.
However, the star has reaffirmed how she still has a desire for a “home on wheels”.
Love Your Garden viewers were recently left horrified after Alan Titchmarsh ‘ruined’ the home of a couple who fostered 150 children.
Last week’s episode of the ITV show saw Alan, 74, and his team help out elderly couple Rob and Margaret Isdale from Grantham, Lincolnshire.
Viewers learned that the couple had fostered more than 150 children over the last 45 years.
To honour their incredible work, Alan and his team wanted to transform the couple’s drab yard into a stunning space inspired by the classic book, The Secret Garden.
Alan suggested they turn the shed into a mock Tudor-inspired design with “ancient-looking follies” which would add “ruins” to the garden.
