Kim Kardashian traded in her usual slinky dresses for a dramatic ball gown — and the fashion risk paid off

Kim Kardashian showed off a different side of her style at a fashion show on Sunday.
Kardashian, 42, made an appearance at Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Moda show in Puglia, Italy, alongside her mom, Kris Jenner.
As she shared on Instagram, the mogul attended the outdoor show in a striking ball gown. The deep-purple dress had oversized, off-the-shoulder sleeves that ended at her elbow, and sheer gloves covered the rest of Kardashian's arms and hands.
The bodice had a sweetheart neckline, which allowed her black bra to peek out from beneath the purple fabric. The gown cinched at the waist with a bow and then flowed into a skirt that split down the middle, creating a train.
Finally, a ruffle at the bottom of the train added to the drama of the look.
Kardashian completed the ensemble with clear heels, a statement necklace with a purple gem, and diamond earrings that were visible thanks to her half-pulled-back hairdo.

Kardashian has gravitated toward form-fitting ensembles in recent years, such as her dress made of pearls for the 2023 Met Gala, so the statement ball gown stood out from her usual style.
But the change of pace was a good look for Kardashian, indicating her partnership with Dolce & Gabbana could give the Skims founder a chance to show a different side of her style.
Kardashian partnered with Dolce & Gabbana on her "Ciao Kim" line and held a fashion show with the brand in 2022, but the collaboration caused tension for Kardashian and her older sister, Kourtney Kardashian Barker.
Dolce & Gabbana styled Kardashian Barker's May 2022 wedding to Travis Barker, and Kardashian's fashion show took place just a few months later in September.
Kardashian Barker said she thought her sister was "copying" her wedding in a conversation with Kendall Jenner in season three episode, episode four of "The Kardashians," as Insider's Palmer Haasch previously reported.
