Tottenham youngster admits he is looking to catch Postecoglou’s eye

Nile John has expressed his delight at signing a new contract at Tottenham and admitted that he is looking to impress Ange Postecoglou and the new coaching staff at the club.

John joined the Spurs academy at the age of seven and has made two competitive appearances for our first team to date, with his debut coming in our 4-0 Europa League win over Wolfsberger AC in February 2021.

The club confirmed last week that the central midfielder, who has been a crucial part of the club’s Under-21 set-up over the last couple of years, had signed a two-year contract extension at Hotspur Way.

The 20-year-old has now spoken about the fond memories of his debut back in 2021 and admitted that the opportunity to work with different kinds of coaches has benefited him hugely.

John also added that he has also learned a lot from some of the first-team Spurs stars he has trained with over the last few years.

While Tottenham have struggled from a lack of direction as a result of having coaches who are different stylistically, the experience of working with diverse coaches like Mourinho, Conte and Postecoglou, could be a blessing in disguise for the development of the likes of John, Craig, Scarlet and Devine.

To be well versed with different systems and different ways of playing at such a young age, undoubtedly gives them a solid tactical grounding and will hold them in good stead for the rest of their careers.
