Champions at San Salvador 2023
Pan Am players from Mexico, Guatemala, Jamaica, and Dominican Republic won the medals of the Badminton Competition at the Central America and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, regional event held in El Salvador, from July 1st to 7th.

The competition started with the Team Event in which Mexico led Group A defeating Jamaica and Venezuela and faced El Salvador in Semifinals, winning 3-1. In the Final, Mexico defeated Guatemala (3-1) with victories in Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles to win the gold medal of the event. Guatemala got silver and Jamaica reached the bronze medal after defeating El Salvador (3-1).
Olympian Haramara Gaitan won the Women’s Singles crown after defeating players from Trinidad and Tobago, Dominican Republic and Jamaica to reach the final where she defeated Cuban Taymara Oropesa in straigh games. Nikte Sotomayor (GUA) and Tahlia Richardson (JAM) reached the bronze medal.
Mexican Luis Garrido won the gold in Men’s Singles. He managed to defeat seeded one Uriel Canjura (ESA) in Quarterfinals, Samuel Ricketts (JAM) in Semifinals and Yeison Del Cid (GUA) in the final. Del Cid got the silver medal while Armando Gaitan, also from Mexico, and Ricketts won the bronze medals of the event.
Jonathan Solis and Anibal Marroquin (GUA) won the gold medal in Men’s Doubles. They started as seeded one duo and defeated the seeded 2, Job Castillo/Luis Montoya, in the final in a 3-games-match. Castillo and Montoya won the silver medal while the bronzes were for Christopher Martinez/Yeison Del Cid (GUA) and Yonatan Linarez/Miguel Mariñez (DOM).
Seeded 2 Women’s Doubles duo, Miriam Rodriguez/Romina Fregoso won the gold after defeating seeded 1 duo, Diana Corleto/Nikte Sotomayor (GUA) in the final. Tahlia Richardson/Katherine Wynter (JAM) and Nairoby Jimenez/Alissa Acosta (DOM) got the 3/4 places.
The Mixed Doubles crown was for Luis Montoya/Miriam Rodriguez who defeated Christopher Martinez/Mariana Paiz (GUA) in the final. Jonathan Solis/Diana Corleto (GUA) and Samuel Ricketts/Tahlia Richarson (JAM) won the bronze medals of the event.
