Man dies after being pulled from Connecticut River in Portland
A man has died after being pulled from the Connecticut River in Portland on Saturday, state police said.
About 8:25 p.m. Saturday, the Portland Police Department and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Energy and Protection received reports of a possible drowning near the Glastonbury Yacht Club on Tryon Street in Portland, according to Connecticut State Police.
Life-saving measures were performed on the man by both civilians and EMS until he was taken to Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, state police said.
The man, identified as 50-year-old Jhonny Herrera, was pronounced dead at the hospital, state police said.
The Eastern District Major Crime Squad was still investigating, state police said.
