Reece Cole Signs for the Grecians
Exeter City yesterday confirmed that Reece Cole has signed a one-year contract with the club with the option of a further year. The 25 year-old has been having trials with the Club during pre-season.
Reece Cole is the third signing of the summer.
Cole started life in Brentford’s academy and has had several loans with Newport County and Yeovil Town, and previously played under Caldwell at Partick Thistle.He has also played for Dumfermline and in non league with MAidenhead, Chertsey Town, and Hayes & Yeading.
Exeter’s manager said:-
We have brought him in to train with us and all of us have been impressed with both on and off the pitch. He’s someone who has had tough times and fell out of love with the game, but he’s come here hungry and fit and he thoroughly deserves the contract.
Reece is a set-piece expert and he has all-round quality to help this team and effect the league. He knows he has to find a way to make that work consistently, but with the help of the coaching staff, he’ll find that. He will show over the course of next season how good he is.
Reece Cole speaking to the Club said:-
I fell out of love for football towards the back end of when I was at Dunfermline and took a bit of time away, just playing part-time football,” he said.
That generated the love back again, just Tuesday and Thursday nights training, and I was buzzing going to training, albeit the level wasn’t where I felt I should be playing at, or wanted to be playing at.
I took some time this summer to have a real good go at it and be really fit, and thankfully that’s paid off. The hunger I have for it now it more than ever.
I’m buzzing to be here. It was a great feeling after the gaffer told me on Friday night. This is only the start and it’s time to kick on now.
You have to back your ability as a trialist to go on and get a contract, and thankfully I have done that. It’s been one of the toughest pre-seasons I’ve done, but it’ll only be beneficial when August 5 comes round.
