Teen ‘held captive’ by mum was forced to hear ‘happy family’ on other side of door

A teenager who was missing for eight years was ‘held captive’ by his mum and forced to listen to a ‘happy family life’ on the other side of his door.

Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Farias said he developed Stockholm Syndrome whilst locked inside the house by his abusive mum, Janie Santana, who reported him missing in 2015.

He emerged this month bloodied and bruised in a church in Texas.

The now 25-year-old told Fox26Houston he was ‘brainwashed and manipulated’ and suffered severe emotional abuse at the hands of Santana.

Rudy has revealed he was locked inside his bedroom whilst his family had visitors over.

Tearing up, he said: ‘I would just have to listen to my family and cheerful on the other side of a f****** door… I’d be like, I just want my family, just want people, just want communication.

‘I just wanted to live my life.’

He claims Santana controlled his every move, and deceived and abused him into not wanting to leave the home.

‘She would manipulate me into saying I would get arrested for a speeding ticket,’ he said.

‘I was held against my will, mentally, not physically, she was just constantly bombarding me with negative thoughts.

‘She didn’t force herself on me or anything like that,’ he said. ‘It would never be anything like that. Just stuff that really made me uncomfortable’. 

But some darker allegations Rudy has made include being forced to ‘play daddy’ while naked in bed, being treated like a slave and given hallucinogenic drugs.

Houston police have not charged Santana, but for now Rudy says he is happy to be free.

‘It feels like, I’m just at peace now. Just feels happy, you know?’ he said. 

The family’s neighbours claim Rudy was never missing as they regularly saw him.

He was reported missing on March 6, 2015, at the age of 17, and was last seen walking his dogs.

‘His dogs were recovered; however, Rudy has not been located,’ according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.

At the time of his disappearance, Santana told officials Rudy suffered from depression and PTSD since his brother died in a motorcycle accident in 2011.

Rudy’s dad, Houston police officer Rudolph Farias III, killed himself in 2014.

He was facing an internal affairs investigation at the time of his death.
