Police: 13-year-old arrested after attempting to rob CT gas station clerk at knifepoint
A 13-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a Wallingford gas station clerk at knifepoint on Tuesday, police said.
The Wallingford Police Department responded to a Citgo gas station at 259 Quinnipiac St. on Tuesday for a report of a male juvenile wearing a red mask and black clothing with a knife in his hand, according to police.
Officers learned that the juvenile allegedly pointed a knife at the cashier and demanded money from the register. The cashier, realizing it was a kid, told him “no,” according to police, and the boy left the Citgo and
started running down Geneva Avenue.
As patrol units arrived at the scene, officers saw the boy running on Bull Avenue and were able to detain him, police said.
The 13-year-old was charged with first-degree robbery and is scheduled to appear at Superior Court for Juvenile Matters in New Haven on July 18.
Members of the Wallingford police’s Patrol Division, Traffic Division and Detective Division are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wallingford Police Department at 203-294-2800 or visit their website at police.wallingfordct.gov.
