A Louisiana sheriff says a man suspected of killing two former co-workers at a shipyard near New Orleans was later shot to death by deputies in an afternoon gunfight. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto says deputies answered a call around 1 p.m. Monday about gunshots at a shipyard in the Harvey area. Two men were found dead there. The suspect, a former shipyard employee, was found around 2:45 p.m. at a Harvey apartment complex. Lopinto said the man spotted the deputies and began running. As the deputies drew nearer, he fired at them. Deputies fired back, killing the suspect.
