Evans has been training with the Red Devils since he left relegated Leicester City after his contract expired.
The 35-year-old left Man United in 2015 for West Bromwich Albion before joining the Foxes in 2018.
The Northern Ireland international brings load of quality and experience to the table, and he could look to secure a long-term deal with his old club by impressing during this short spell.
While Man United have added to their backline, albeit temporarily, they are set to lose Alex Telles permanently.
According to The Athletic, the 30-year-old is nearing a move to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr with talks underway between the two clubs.
Telles will be reuniting with Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo at the club after the duo played together at Old Trafford in the 2021-22 campaign.
The Brazilian spent last season on loan at Sevilla, featuring in 38 games across all competitions and helping them win the Europa League.
