Piaule Catskill is a minimal retreat located in Catskills, New York, designed by Garrison Architects. This minimalist sanctuary is the brainchild of Nolan McHugh and Trevor Briggs, the duo behind the esteemed homewares brand of the same name. This boutique hotel is envisioned as a retreat for those yearning for respite from the urban grind, offering a selection of 24 meticulously crafted cabins, a congenial communal zone, and a well-appointed spa. Each cabin at Piaule Catskill is a testament to the philosophy of ‘less is more.’ Immense windows cover an entire wall, bestowing unbroken views of the surrounding forests. The interior furnishings are sparse, prioritizing functionality without compromising on elegance. These include work from Kati von Lehman and a collection of essential home items like organic Portuguese linens, Japanese glassware, along with beds and side tables conceived by Piaule.
The cabins are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, providing underfloor heating and bespoke bath amenities crafted in collaboration with Village Common. The communal hub of the property is embodied in a sprawling cabin, welcoming guests with a reception area, dining and lounging spaces on the main level. The ample use of floor-to-ceiling windows imbues the area with a wealth of natural light and grants panoramic views of the surrounding vistas. This space is appointed with Piaule tables and comfortable seating arrangements by Carl Hansen & Son, demonstrating a harmonious fusion of design and ease.
