Kane Williamson To Play In ODI World Cup 2023? NZ Coach Gary Stead Gives Encouraging Reply
New Zealand coach Gary Stead opens up of Kane Willamson’s participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup saying that they will leave the call on him and they want to give him every chance to be the part of tournament.
Williamson got injured while playing the opener clash of the Indian Premier League against Chennai Super Kings in April at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He returned home from India on crutches and subsequently underwent surgery, which was deemed a success.
New Zealand coach said that Kane will take the final call for his participation in the World Cup and the team will give him every chance.
“He’s going very, very well, probably slightly ahead of where we expected him to be at this stage,” he said. “We will leave the call on Kane for as late as we can to give him every chance of being there, he’s obviously a quality player” Gary told Newshubsports.
“That’s exciting for us that he still is within a chance. I can’t say more than that, because I don’t know more than that right now and it will be a last-minute call” added Gary.
