Drive-by shooting in Unity Plaza in Hartford leaves bystander dead, another in critical condition
One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a drive-by shooting in Unity Plaza in Hartford Tuesday night.
Police responded to the area of 295 Barbour St. at about 8:13 p.m. for a ShotSpotter notification and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds outside of a business, according to the Hartford Police Department.
Officers performed life-saving techniques on one of the victims who was unresponsive before he was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead, police said. He has been identified as 24-year-old Marion Edwards of Windsor.
The other victim was listed in critical condition in an area hospital, according to police.
Hartford police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said the two people who were shot were not the intended target of the drive-by. The person who was targeted ran from the scene, Boisvert said.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and assumed the investigation.
