Cocaine dealer who hid cash in dictionary has book thrown at him
A police raid on a dealer’s house uncovered £45,000 of drugs and cash hidden in a fake dictionary.
Officers swooped on the property in Leicester where they arrested 33-year-old Sabri Ally on March 22.
Dramatic bodycam footage shows them banging the door down and shouting ‘stay where you are’, before a woman asks Ally to confirm his name.
An officer tells the camera he found cash inside a diversion safe, that was concealed within a dummy ‘New English Dictionary’.
He counts the piles of £20 notes and adds them up to £5,000, before others were recovered, and £19,000 was found hidden elsewhere.
Cocaine and heroin with a street value of more than £43,000 was also discovered, along with cannabis worth more than £8,000.
Ally was jailed for two and a half years at Leicester Crown Court yesterday, after admitting several drug offences.
PC Charlotte Eld said: ‘We won’t tolerate drugs supply on our streets and will pursue those who bring misery and harm to our communities.
‘We will continue to take action to remove illegal drugs from our streets and to bring those responsible before the courts.’
Yesterday also saw the National Crime Agency (NCA) reveal three men’s plot to use a Christian group as a front to smuggle cannabis into the UK.
Dalton Anderson, 51, Alvin Russell, 46, and Sinclair Tucker, 65, imported the drug via Birmingham Airport between March and May 2017.
But Border Force discovered marijuana had been packed into sealed tins of calaloo, a vegetable popular in the Caribbean, and ackee fruit.
All three batches, with a street value of about £2,000,000, were addressed to Vision Christian Ministries (VCM).
But their plot was foiled after Border Force intercepted a shipment on May 23 2017 that the group intended to pick up from the airport. NCA officers arrested them at the airport.
