Report: Many at Spurs believe 27-year-old would be the ‘ideal’ striker signing
Football Transfers have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney if Harry Kane departs the club.
The speculation over Kane’s future rumbles on as a game of poker between the striker, Tottenham and Bayern Munich continues to unfold (The Athletic).
Spurs are allegedly on the lookout for replacements for the England captain should he depart, with multiple sources from Italy claiming over the last week that Dusan Vlahovic would be the man that the North London club turn to (Rudy Galetti).
Toney seen as the ideal fit to replace Harry Kane
However, Football Transfers have now suggested that Spurs could look closer to home for Kane’s replacement, with Toney said to be at the top of the club’s radar.
The 27-year-old is currently serving a football ban that ends on January 16, due to an eight-month suspension for breaching gambling rules, but it is alleged that Tottenham would be willing to wait until January to sign the England international.
The outlet adds that many insiders at Hotspur Way believe that the Brentford star would be the ‘ideal replacement’ for Kane.

Had Toney not been suspended, there is no doubt in my mind that Tottenham would have prioritised him as a potential Kane replacement.
However, Postecoglou is going to need a centre-forward right away if the England captain departs and Vlahvoic appears to be the most realistic target among the various strikers linked with a move to N17.
