Containment of Wonder Fire near Shasta Lake increases to 35%
SHASTA COUNTY – An evacuation warning was lifted Tuesday as firefighters continued to battle the Wonder Fire just south of Shasta Lake, according to Cal Fire.
As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, the wildfire had consumed 150 acres and was 35% contained, the Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit said in an incident update. There were no reports of injuries or damage to structures.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office lifted an evacuation warning for the Bridge Bay Marina area.
The fire is burning in terrain that is steep and difficult to access, according to the incident update. Crews spent the day continuing to construct and improve control lines.
About 200 personnel are assigned to the fire.
The fire ignited around 4:15 p.m. Monday near Wonderland Boulevard and Ponderosa Road, according to Cal Fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
