The Supreme Court has criticised the state's Allahabad High Court after it dismissed a plea by five accused seeking anticipatory bail in a criminal case but granted protection against coercive steps for two months, claiming the order was "self-contradictory". The bench quashed the part of the high court order which directed that no coercive steps shall be taken against the five accused for this period.
