India's Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, chaired by P P Chaudhary, has recommended that the government consider economic ties with Pakistan in order to broaden people-to-people contacts due to cultural commonalities and civilisational linkages. This comes despite tensions between the countries over terrorism and other contentious issues.
