North Korea has insulted a US special envoy appointed to monitor human rights issues in the country and warned it may face unspecified security consequences if it continues to criticise North Korea's human rights conditions. North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency referred to Julie Turner, who was confirmed by the US Senate on 27 July, as a "wicked woman" who was picked as a "political housemaid" to launch attacks on the country's record.
