The West Bengal government has adopted a four-year undergraduate program as a small part of the National Education Policy (NEP), according to education minister Bratya Basu. The move aims to avoid the errors of the Left Front government that once barred English education in government schools. While Basu clarified that the state had not fully adopted NEP, he said the government would provide the NEP aspect to avert problems in national-level competition for seven lakh students.
