Lizzo's Alleged Former Documentary Director Explains Why She Quit After 2 Weeks Amid Troubling Allegations

Filmmaker Sophia Nahli Allison is the latest creative professional to reveal her experience working alongside Lizzo.

If you didn’t see, there was a string of news about Lizzo and her behind-the-scenes behavior that lead to a lawsuit against her. Three dancers are suing the 35-year-old “Juice” singer for sexual harassment and a hostile work environment, among other accusations, plus, another one of her former dancers and creative directors spoke out on social media to voice their support for the dancers.

Now, Sophia is explaining why she quit after 2 weeks of working alongside Lizzo.

“In 2019, I traveled a bit with Lizzo to be the director of her documentary. I walked away after about 2 weeks. I was treated with such disrespect by her. I witnessed how arrogant, self-centered, and unkind she is,” she claimed in a social media post. “My spirit said to run as fast as you f**king can and I’m so grateful I trusted my gut. I felt gaslit and was deeply hurt, but I’ve healed. Reading these reports made me realize how dangerous of a situation it was. This kind of abuse of power happens far too often. Much love and support to the dancers.”

After posting this message, Sophia posted several other messages of support, including one that backed up her story. “I was part of this documentary,” the message from Charlene Sanchez said, which was reposted by Sophia. “This is all true. I had to vent to so many of my friends aabout it. It was such a small crew and the experience of working with Lizzo was a nightmare.”

A documentary about Lizzo, titled Love, Lizzo, was released in 2022, but it’s unclear if Sophia is speaking about this projects or a different project.
