Francia Raisa Speaks to Rumor She Was Forced to Donate Kidney to Selena Gomez

There’s been a rumor floating around for years that Francia Raisa was in some way pressured or forced to donate her kidney to her friend, Selena Gomez.

If you don’t know, Francia donated her kidney to Selena back in 2017. They had been friends for years before the donation happened.

Fast forward to 2022, Selena gave an interview where she called Taylor Swift her only friend in the industry. After that, rumors erupted of a falling out between the pair, especially after Francia seemed to dodge questions about her current relationship with Selena.

Now, Francia is clearing the air about some of the rumors.

Well, this week, Francia made an appearance on her ow I Met Your Father co-star Josh Peck‘s Good Guys podcast.

“Whenever I thought about my name being in the press, I never thought about it like this. I always thought about it from an actor’s perspective,” she shared about the sudden attention she’s received once again over all the online discourse.

About telling the kidney donation story, Francia shared, “She and I went public with our situation years ago and honestly we had to. The press got a hold of the story and we wanted to tell it. As for what’s going on lately, does anyone prep you for this kind of stuff? Never. We never get prepped for this kind of stuff. It always catches me by surprise. I don’t know if it’s good or not.”

About negative comments, she shared, “I can’t read the comments because I don’t do well with it. I really don’t. Sometimes I disappear because people are mean. People are so mean. They get you right there. Someone said, ‘Oh, you’re just looking for attention because your career’s a flop.’ I’m like, ‘Is it a flop?’”

And about if she was ever forced to do the kidney donation, she continued, “No one forced me to do anything. It came out of the genuine kindness of my heart.”
